Remarques for "Let the Right One In"
About
I am excited to work on these remarques, I have so many concepts that never made it into the book, and even some new ones since the project was finished. My remarque illustrations/sketches will sometimes involve the symbolism or concepts in the book, or may illustrate a moment in the story or a unique character trait, or just play around with the mix of character and graphical elements. I have a few finished samples that I will show at the bottom of this page.
Just before the book was released, I was testing out the paper in the Artist Gift Edition of "Let the Right One In" from Suntup Editions. The good news is that there are a few choices regarding which artistic mediums I can use in the book, more details below. However, I have discovered that the paper in the book will not stand up to any water-based mediums. Check out the samples below, these are loose signature-sheets from the book, so the paper stock is the same. As you can see in the example (below-right), the watercolor paint wrinkled the paper quite badly, so no watercolor in the actual books.
The process of drawing or painting in these books is quite time consuming as there are many precautions that I take to preserve the quality of the book as I am working on it. In addition to wearing cotton gloves, I also go to great lengths to protect the condition of the book - take a look at the "Process Video" to get a look inside the process. It is also very important to mention that because these books are quite valuable, both monetarily and sentimentally, it would be a shame if your book was damaged, destroyed or lost in transit - so please be sure to insure your packages properly with your shipping service - for both ways; to me and back to you.
Pricing info
Remarques are available in 4 price categories. Same price for either a 'tipped-in' sheet, or artwork drawn directly in your book - however customers assume all shipping charges both ways if the book is sent to me. For international customers, shipping cost will be determined based on your address and added to the total sale price.
In the price list below, the first 3 options for remarques are for "artist choice" of the subject matter. Several people have asked if they can pick the subject of the artwork, that is the last option on the price list below (option 4).
Payment is best through PayPal or Venmo - add 4% to the overall price. Payment must be made in full before I begin the artwork. If you absolutely cannot do PayPal or Venmo, we can figure out another option.

How to get your own book remarqued
Please contact me directly at
and let me know your choice of pricing option, and whether you want a tipped-in remarque or artwork drawn directly in your book(s). Additionally, feel free to let me know your favorite character or scene from the book, or even favorite objects (Rubik's Cube!). For the first 3 price options (artist choice), I can't guarantee that I will draw your favorite - but it is good for me to know just in case.
Once I receive your request we can figure out the final cost and work out payment, then I can provide you with a mailing address to send your books to.
